How to Make Your Sister Mad

Yesterday morning, with family gathered around, my daughter presented my husband with a homemade present...101 Reasons Why I Love My Dad.

The list included, "You fuss about how old I am and tell me I am too big for being tucked in, but you still tuck me in anyway." And, "You help me with math homework. DON'T TELL MOM I AM WRITING THIS!!!!! You are the only one I can ask for help, because Mom can't do the math." Sad, but oh so true.

As my husband read each line, I held my six year old son on my lap and we listened. It was wonderful and sweet, and the kids' Grandma and I both began to cry.

He read the last item on the list, "You work and try as hard as you can. And you do it just for us."

Grandma, who was clearly touched by the outpouring of love said, "That was really beautiful."

And without missing a beat, my son said, "That was really boring."

Little brother is just doing his job... comic relief, lol.

It's awesome that your daughter thought of 101 things to say, what a sweet girl you've raised.

FWIW, I'd like for one of my boys to put 'My Mom can't do math' in writing. I think it could solve a lot of confusion once middle/high school show up.

Love!

Oh, man. Out of the mouths of babes.

It's never good to make us sisters mad. But I'm pretty sure its a pre-rec for Holiday occassions to annoy your sister.

Ain't sibling rivalry grand?

My kids once made a Top 10 Reasons We're Glad You Are Our Dad for my husband. Item number 10 was, "You buy us certain things."

Another classic moment for the family history books... LOL! I always wanted a lil' brother, may be a good thing I never got my wish. Too cute and so glad your daughter doesn't take Dad for granted. Sounds like a nice day...

Ah, but boring could be the new lovely!

The lad will learn, oh yes he will..

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year, MF!

Your son never fails to come through with a snarky comment!

I LOVE your son!!!

Siblings. Gotta' keep it real.

Yup, that's definitely a brotherly comment!

Siblings at their finest.

What a sweet note for Dad..and probably his favorite. :)

i'm totally tearing up over this myself!

no, young man, not boring. not boring at all. and one day, you will understand... ;-)

My daughter says:

"How cute!"

I say:

"Bwhahahahhaha"

I was in awe of the sweetness and then your son, as usual!, made me burst out in laughter. Oh he is awesome. And your daughter is a doll.

Oh lordy. So true, so touching, so funny.

How sweet and thoughtful of her. Boys just don't get it, but they sure are funny.

Perfect. Just perfect.

LOL

Leave it to a boy to "keep it real!"

LOL

Merry late Christmas!

That's what little brothers are for.

Ahhhh yoir hubby must be pretty fab. I love that your daughter did that, and as for the boy...ok, I love him too. :D

The best way to make my sister mad is for me to just be me. That seems to really piss her off.

That is so adorable that she did that! What a sweet girl with a wonderful heart (wonder where she got that from.. hmmmmmm ;-)}

And little man with his quick comments.

They are definitely yours ;-) lol.

Glad it was good darlin'.

The time to worry would be if he didn't say something like that.

aww, that is heartwarming (the homemade gift not the jab) :o)

That boy tells it like it is ;)

I think that is the sweetest gift by the way.

high 5's to little brother *s* my daughter's the one that gets jealous of attention we give Bub. She just can't take it! Thanks for sharing another momo fali family moment

I made a list like this for my dad about a week ago on my blog...I wonder if your son would find it boring too...I am sure he would...darn kids!

What an amazing gift! 101 affirmations would make any parent feel grand.

Well you have a sweetheart in the family and a regular Don Rickles. Not too shabby.

Lol, just remind him of that when he gets one of those lists some day. ;)

I swear, your kid has to got to be the FUNNIEST child I have ever heard of...I hope I get to meet him someday. You are gonna be so proud when he's on SNL in 20 years!
