That's Miss Gonnakickyousaurus To You, Bro

On school picture day in the fourth grade, I attempted to put my hair up in barrettes only to have one side that just wouldn't lay flat. Thanks a lot cowlick. So I did what any, normal, nine year old would do. I grabbed the cow-licked hair and cut it off, leaving a two-inch long strip of hair sticking straight up. My Mom was thrilled.

My nine year old daughter has inherited a lovely tuft of hair in the very same spot and it gives her fits when she's trying to put her hair up, just as mine did.

The other day she pulled it back into a ponytail and, as usual, the hair around the cowlick was a mess. Some laying flat, some sticking up, parts of bare scalp showing through.

We were in a hurry to run some errands and as she was climbing in the car she asked, "Does my hair look okay?"

I replied, "It's fine".

But, where I had remedied the situation, her brother ruined it when he looked at her and asked, "You mean your dinosaur head?"

LOL! Whenever I used to wear those clips with the ribbons all over them, my brother would say it looked like a big grease ball. Aren't brother's great?

man alive, the brother thing-I was so short changed. I just have a sister with a superiority complex. I am training my son though.....

Did my son get in your car? As I type this, he's tormenting his sister about her hair.

Snickering loudly here...this sounds just like my house on a daily basis.

LOL!! He is such a piece of work!! Poor girl. I had one also and HATED it. Add in masses and curls, and nothing ever looked right.

my daughter recently clipped a bit out of the *back* of her hair. "honey, that is *NOT* how we get rid of tangles!"

No one stands a chance against him!!

poor thing. It's so sad how tragic hair faux pas can be...

ROFL! Dinosaur head!

My future spawn are doomed. My hair is wild and curly and frizzy and unmanageable. My husband's hair is usually standing up in sixteen directions when he wakes up in the morning. Add the two together, and I don't imagine the haircare industry has invented any tools that will help.

Siblings are awesome.
I can't believe you cut your own hair, that is hysterical. As a Mom I can only imagine how 'thrilled' your mom was :-)
Thanks for yet another giggle.

LOL!

Dinosaur head. Ahh I love it.1

Oh no he di-n't. That's hilarious! I can't decide which parent he takes after with that comment!

I had my cousin "help" me cut off my rebellious cowlick. She also suggested that I wear a headband waaaay back on my head to camouflage the short hair poking up everywhere.

when my daughter was 4 she decided she didn't want bangs anymore so she cut them off. i think the verbal escape of air that came from my mouth hurt her feelings. she cried for forever! but there was nothing to do about it except let them grow!

Oh, brother . . . aren't they just the best.

Such a great remedy for a good mood . . .

Geez - I can't wait. In just a few years my boys will be saying stuff like this to each other.

Its a good thing they're boys, though. They both inherited my nasty cowlick - dead center on their foreheads!

Awww poor little thing! ;)

Oh dear, brothers.

You should just point out to her that dinosaurs are fearsome and mighty and worshipped by young boys much like her brother.

So in that sense it was a high compliment.

My then-four-year-old son managed to cut a chunk out of the front of his hair. In the car with his big sister's construction-paper scissors (NOT meant to be a car toy). On the way to my brother's wedding.

lol - I am still LMAO thinking about you cutting your hair in 4th grade.

Little brothers--they keep princesses grounded :)

"leaving a two-inch long strip of hair sticking straight up. My Mom was thrilled"

ha ha ha ha

I did that when I was about 5...but I gave myself BANGS.

Dinosaur Head? Pure Comedy.

Awww, I have horrible cowlicks, too. I lucked out on a brother to make me fell worse too-

i love it.
and i love the visual too. lol

Oh, my son would definitely say that. He once told me that his little sister (she was about 1 at the time) had "short arms, short like a T-Rex." Nice.

I can only hope I tormented my sister so badly.

Brothers!!!

lol. Leave it to the brothers......

Has it really been that long since I visited? I laughed at all your posts, and was awed by Michael Phelps, and wonder just what your son is going to say next!
