Sicko

Somewhere around mid-December my husband brought home a nasty cold. After two days of sniffling and sneezing he was better. For my son, and for me, this cold turned into a sinus infection and we both have been through three rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it. My boy is finally better, but the last two days have left me feeling even worse.

I am typing this with a raging headache, which is a frequent occurrence. I have to use an inhaler before I exercise thanks to my asthma and I take medication and use two different nose-sprays and a rinse for my sinus problems. I am sick. A lot.

I am also a klutz. I have broken the same ankle three times. That stuff they say about the bone getting stronger after it breaks? Not true. I have suffered two concussions and now keep prescriptions in my cabinet for dizziness and nausea.

My ailments over the years have ranged from adhesions from my two c-sections (ow), to pleurisy (more ow), to meningitis (mostest ow). I had meningitis, I can say mostest if I want to.

I once played a board game with two of my sisters where they had to guess the answer I would give to certain questions. One of the questions was, "How many days a year are you sick?" One sister answered 300 and the other one wrote down 350. They were both wrong. My answer was 365.

At the beginning of 2009, my husband said he was going to start a journal to keep track of all my illnesses. Last night, I called him at work and said, "Go ahead and put down that today, on top of my lingering sinus infection, I had dizziness and a sore throat".

He replied, "I stopped keeping track. I figure it's easier to write down the days you are well." That's how often I am sick. I didn't even make it a month-and-a-half before he gave up.

My poor health probably just boils down to stress and insomnia, but you know what boys and girls? It's getting old. I am sick of being sick.

I wish they could give me a pill for that.

Take supplements. I take 16 and I never get sick. =P

Should we put you in a protective bubble at BlogHer? I'd fill it 2/3 with vodka-cranberry for you.

Yuck.

I'm quite lucky, although I do have the asthma, which can be a pain in the ass, or chest. And I do have the numbnut disease. Thus have broken quite a few parts of my body, some on multiple occasions. Repetitive knee surgery isn't much fun by the way.

Get well soon, and for a good while this time!

I would lose my mind if I were sick that often, I'm impressed you do exercise and have a positive outlook. Every tried Bio-35? They should really pay me for the praises I leave for them all over blogland, but I really think it's boosted my immune system.

I rarely get sick, but have this fever, body ache sore throat thing now and realize I'm a big pussy! I don't know how you do it- without being souped up on NyQuil and meds all the time! Get better!!!

I hear ya.
I get nausea and dizzy from antiboitics.
So that's fun on top of already feeling like crap.

You should check your house for mold.

Wow, that's a lot of sick! Maybe the right dr could track down the problem? I mean, nobody should just be sick like that all the time!

I hear ya on the sinus thing but I'm so sorry it's worse for you. That can't be fun.

You sound miserable! On the bright side maybe a HazMat suit comes in a color that you like?

How about if they just gave you a pill that worked? :)

Hope you feel better soon!

Ok... here's my advice... i literally used to be so ill all of the time. It started with stress but my body just couldn't repair itself in time.
YOGI tea has this amazing ecchinacea tea. ALSO, look into the line of EMERGEN-C vitamin boosts. You drink them and they aren't bad at all. All natural and really repair a system.

No advice - just agreeing that it's the major suck.

OH big hugs! I have been battling crap for 2 weeks right now and I think I am going to go insane. One thing that does help right now is very hot bubble baths with California Baby Cold and Flu. And sleep--if you can be so lucky!

oh man! being sick SUCKS!

Maybe you are deficient in Vitamin D. It is really making news for being great for immunity. :)

Ugh. I'm with ya: it does suck. I do hope you're feeling good at BlogHer.

And if you do, you'll know what that means...you just need to find blogging conventions to go to, 100% of the time!

Have you tried seeing a Homeopath?

Good chance the antibiotics and other meds might be creating a chain reaction that is lowering your immune system. You're winning small battles, but losing the war.

i totally empathise with you on this one. i have had the plurisy (you're right, big ow), the sinus infections that lasted for years(allergy shots seem to be helping there), and joint/muscle/tendon/ligament pain (they say its fibromyalgia) for ohh about 20 years now. 20 yrs of hurting everyday and not knowing for sure why.

and my stupid dr. asks me if i'm depressed. huh. what do you think, dumba$$?

:/ That's no fun. I hope you get to feeling better soon Momo...and STAY feeling better. :)

Oh, honey, I feel for you. I look back now at when my kids were little and I was diagnosed with (first) lupus and I honestly don't know how I did it. But you get through the day, somehow, and the best moments when the kids make you laugh and throw your arms around them makes it all worthwhile.

I hear you on the headache. I just got one for no reason I can think of. I'm brewing up some coffee and Advil relief right now.

I think if you just read "The Secret" and thought yourself well you'd be much better off. Oprah even said so on her show so it HAS to be true. Try it and feel better soon.

Okiesister is right, make sure you have no mold.

Hang in there. Wish they made a pill for stress and insomnia. That didn't eventually make you feel worse, that is.

i totally hear you, and if you want any help, i might be able to help. i've become an amatuer expert in health due to my own chronic health issues (chronic pain, endometriosis wtih three surgeries, hypothyroidism, etc) which i have mostly resolved through dietary changes and supplemental help. i have read about a library worth of books in order to help myself and have been able to help many a friend.

i hope you feel better soon

Does not sound like any fun!

I rarley get sick. My advance immune system simply does not allow it. I force myself to go to the doctor every 18 months to get a check up, however that is usually the only time he sees me.

You are right, stress and lack of sleep have much to do with your immune system not being able to fight off the viruses. The key is to work on these two areas, once you do you can start building a better immune system.

I was kidding about the supplements btw. They don't really help. But bacon does help, and that's why I have a new blog. The old one is closed.

You know I feel for you, Mo.

Yoders Good Health Recipe drink just might do the trick! :)

Oh man! I am so sorry you are sick all of the time. I really hope you can kick this one soon, and you have a good week (or can we hope for two?) before the next sickness comes around!

You poor girl! I wish I could conjure up some magic noodle soup to help you feel better:)

Big Hugs...

hope you feel better for the entire rest of February :)
